How is this different from a bike fit at the local bike shop?
Portland is full of great bike shops which provide essential services, often including bike fits. It all starts with having the right type and properly sized bike, so their role is critical.
However, their systems are based on generalized principles of bike sizing and bike fitting, but do not incorporate your changing strength, flexibility, and injuries. Using our extensive knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and the biomechanics of cycling, we’re able to gear (no pun intended!) your fit to your strengths, resulting in a more efficient and injury-free ride.
Additionally, we are happy to work with your bike shop, or guide you to a shop, to help you find any necessary equipment to improve your fit. We’re all part of a team to help keep you riding happily and healthy.
What should I bring?
Please bring your bike (road, hybrid, commuter, tri, mountain- all and any are welcome!) and cycling clothes including shorts, cleats, and gloves.
How long will my Bike Fit take?
Duration can vary due to the individualized nature of the Bike Fit evaluation, but plan for about 1.5 hours. Based on our findings and bike adjustments, we may recommend a follow up visit.
How much does the Bike Fit cost?
A Bike Fit assessment costs $150 for the initial 1.5 hour assessment. Follow up visits will be discussed on a case by case basis.
Are you a runner and cyclist? Triathlete? Combine out silver package Running Gait Evaluation and Bike Fit for $200. Please allow 2 hours for this service.
Who will be performing the Bike Fit?
Dr. Melissa Cox, PT, DPT has completed Level 1 Certification in Clinical Bike Fitting though Paul Swift’s BikeFit, LLC and is passionate about keeping endurance athletes on the road.
